10. International - Ⅱ. Study Abroad by Kyushu University Students

Note

  1. Data up to 2018 includes those who began their overseas study periods. From 2019 onwards, data includes the number of international students. From 2020 onwards, data includes online participants of overseas university programs.
  2. Data does not include online participants of overseas university programs.
  3. "University Presentation and Symposium Attendance Excluding Research Exchange etc.”, which was not included in the Survey of Japanese Students Studying Abroad Based on Student Exchange Agreements (Japan Student Services Organization, JASSO), is included for education and research purposes from 2017.
  4. Please note that simple comparisons cannot be made as definitions of “study overseas” vary depending on the university.
  5. About universities:
    • “Nationwide”: Data does not include online programs before study abroad in the destination country because the survey year depends on the date of starting the programs on-site.
    • Hokkaido University: “Other” means those studying abroad destination cannot be verified, due to overseas arrangements that are not under agreements.
    • The University of Tokyo: There is no published data on the number of online participants in overseas university programs.
    • Nagoya University: Types and purposes of studying abroad includes exchange study, research, language training, degree programs, etc. Region is based on Ministry of Foreign Affairs standard.
    • Kyoto University: Data excludes non-academic personal travel such as tourism or home visits among overseas trips initiated during FY2022. In FY2022, as COVID-19 infections subsided and international travel restrictions were eased compared to the previous year, the numbershowed an increase from the preceding year.
    • Kyushu University: Total includes foreign students. “Other” refers to co-sponsored by multiple countries.
  6. 2020-2021: Due to the pandemic of the COVID-19, number of international students has dramatically decreased.
  7. About our schools:
    • School of Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation: established in April 2018
    • Graduate School of Social and Cultural Studies: reorganized into the Graduate School of Integrated Sciences for Global Society in April 2014
    • Joint Graduate School of Mathematics for Innovation: established in April 2022
  8. Those who participated in university study abroad programs co-sponsored by multiple countries are included in the “Other” category.
