- "Japanese government scholarship students": International students receiving scholarships from the Japanese government.
- Foreign Government-Sponsored International Students: International students sent at the expense of foreign governments (including the Chinese Government Graduate Student Overseas Study Program).
- Privately-Financed International Students: Students besides Japanese government-funded international students and foreign government-sponsored international students; students who are privately financed (including those from JICA-Related Programs).
