Notes
- "Other Full-Time Teaching Staff": teaching staff who do not hold a Japanese medical or dental license.
-
Includes all faculty members affiliated with either a school or the hospital, regardless of whether they hold fixed-term or non-fixed-term appointments.

-
"Full-Time Equivalent (FTE)" = Weekly working hours of part-time staff / Weekly working hours of full-time staff as stipulated in the employment regulations of the respective national university hospital.
-
"Bed Occupancy Rate": An indicator of how efficiently hospital beds are utilized. A rate closer to 100% indicates fewer vacant beds and is used as one measure of hospital management performance.
Bed Occupancy Rate (%) = Total Inpatient-Days / Total Operational Bed-Days × 100 -
Comparisons include only main hospitals, excluding hospitals affiliated with centers or research institutes.
-
Comparisons are made among the 13 national university corporations classified as "Group A" under the Financial Analysis Classification of National University Corporations established by the National University Corporation Evaluation Committee.
"Group A": National university corporations with a student enrollment capacity of at least 10,000 and approximately 10 or more schools or equivalent academic units. For institutions organized into academic clusters or similar structures, only student enrollment capacity is considered. -
"Average Length of Stay": An indicator of the average number of days patients stay in the hospital. Shorter stays generally reflect improvements in both quality assurance and healthcare efficiency, making this one measure of hospital management performance. However, comparisons should be made with caution, as length of stay varies depending on disease type and patient severity.
